Create a bootable Windows Vista on Flash Memory

1. Format the USB flash memory drive to FAT32 file system

Run CMD.EXE and type the following command. Note: This set of commands assumes that the USB flash drive is addressed as "disk 1″. Double check that by doing a list of the disks (type "list disk") before cleaning it).

many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PC's who are not connected to network ). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time.

Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer .

Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the figure

Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.

* Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window

* Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive. ( E.g. If it is written Kingston (I , then I: will be the drive letter .)

* In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter .

* Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter

* You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist:

1. Autorun.inf

2. New Folder.exe

3. Bha.vbs

4. Iexplore.vbs

5. Info.exe

6. New_Folder.exe

7. Ravmon.exe

8. RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .

If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.

Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf ) .

That's it . Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus .

if there is a folder named heap41a, then ur system is infected...

I have been using BSNL Broadband for 3 years now. I want to share my experience and provide some useful tips as well. Currently i have the Rs 500 per month plan which offers a bandwidth range of 256 kbps to 2 mbps. And if we use the default IP address 192.168.1.1 the speed doesnt go beyond 50 KB/s. I usually use Limewire and Bitcomet client applications for downloading purposes. As of late I've stopped using Bitcomet altogether since Limewire has come up with an option to download torrents too. These are the steps I followed and you can follow to increase download speed for Limewire/Bitcomet:

* Do not use default IP address 192.168.1.1

* Set up a static IP address.

* Go to the router page by typing the url 192.168.1.1.

* Enter username and password as admin.

* Click on "Virtual Server"under "Advanced" on the router page.

* Type the name of the application in the box. (Limewire or Bitcomet or any other name)

* Type the static IP address in the box below.

* Select protocol type as TCP.

* Now type the port number that you would like to forward.

* Port number 6882 is recomended for Bitcomet and for Limewire any other number below 61000.

* Click "Apply" and restart the router.

Now you need to configure the port settings for Limewire/Bitcomet

* Open Limewire and goto Tools->Options->Advaced->Firewall Config.

* Check the radio button "Manual Port forward" and type the port number that you typed into the settings on router page.

* Type the same number on "Listen on port" option.

* Save and restart Limewire.

You will see a big difference now. The download speed will improve and the firewall will be off for Limewire since that port is forwarded. You can follow similar steps for Bitcomet.

if you access or search Wikipedia frequently and if you want to add an option to Search Wikipedia to your Windows Vista Start Menu Instant Search Box, here is what you need to do.

Type gpedit.msc in the search bar and hit enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.

Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Instant Search > Custom Instant Search Internet Search Provider policy setting.

Click on Properties, to open its Properties box.

Enable the policy setting by selecting Enabled. Next in the first 'string or dll...' box type Search Wikipedia. And in the next 'url to use' box, type http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%w . Click Apply > OK. Reboot. If you wish to apply the changed policy setting immediately, open cmd.exe > gpupdate/force and hit Enter.

Now open your Start Menu. You should be able to see the Search Wikipedia option. Type a search term and click on Search Wikipedia; your browser will open with Wikipedia results.

Similarly, if you want to add Google instead from Vista's Start Menu Search Box, copy-paste the following url instead:

If you want to add Yahoo instead from Vista's Start Menu Search Box, copy-paste the following url instead:

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%w

To add Google or Yahoo, from Vista' Start Menu Search Box, you may also download and use Start++ Tool. Install it. After installation, if you type say, g winvistaclub server , it will open the Google search result page for winvistaclun in your browser. Similarly for Yahoo search; its y winvistaclub server . Its quite a nifty utility !

If you find that one or more of your icons are not displaying correctly, or that your icon cache is corrupted, you might want to consider rebuilding your icon cache.

To do so, Open Windows Explorer, and configure your Folder Options > Views to show Hidden / System Files. Next go to C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local folder and delete the hidden IconCache.db file. Reboot. This action will purge and rebuild the icon cache.

There is also another way to do it, should the above method not work for you.

Kill Explorer.exe process. To do so, click Start button > Hold down Ctrl+Shift & Right Click on empty area in the Start Menu > Click "Exit Explorer".

Click Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys and open Task Manager.

Click File > New Task > cmd.exe > OK. This will open the command prompt.

Type cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local

Click OK

Type attrib –h IconCache.db

Click OK

Type del IconCache.db

Click OK

Type start explorer

Click OK.

Your Vista Icon Cache would have been rebuilt.

In Vista, when you click Ctrl + Alt + Delete together, you are presented with a screen with following options:

Lock this computer

Switch User

Log Off

Change a password

Task Manager

Should you wish to, you can opt to hide one or more of these options, as follows:

Open Regedit and navigate to the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Double click on value/s mentioned below & set its value as 1. This will disable the corresponding option from appearing.

DisableLockWorkstation

HideFastUserSwitching

NoLogoff

DisableChangePassword

DisableTaskMgr

If any of them don't exist, rt click on any blank white space in RHS and create a New DWORD valuename, as mentioned above, and set its value to 1.

This will disable the corresponding option. To revert back to default, you may switch the value, back to 0.

Do always create a system restore point first, before touching the Registry !

1. Take ownership of the folders %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US, then give yourself RW privileges.

2. Take ownership of the files %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US\winload.exe.mui and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US\winload.exe.mui, then give yourself RW privileges.

3. Select your screen aspect ratio (most screens are 4:3, 1280*1024 ones are 5:4, most widescreens are 16:9, some notebooks are 16:10) and the wanted progress bar color.

4. Copy winload.exe.mui from the folder that contains your chosen bar color and screen aspect ratio version (for example, greenbar\4.3) to %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US, overwriting previous files.

5. Enable "No GUI Boot" using Msconfig (if it isn't enabled yet).

Uninstallation Instructions

1. If you had "No GUI Boot" disabled before installing this boot screen, disable it using Msconfig.

2. Copy winload.exe.mui from the "Original" folder to %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US, overwriting any previous files.

If you've ever needed to create a list of files in a directory, you've likely used a command from the prompt to pipe the directory listing into a fileâ€¦ but what if you could simply right-click on or in any folder and copy a list of the files to the clipboard?

With some registry hacking and command line utilities, we can do just thatâ€¦ and we can even hide the menu item behind the Shift right-click menu so it doesn't waste space unless you need to use it.

Using the Menu Item

You can hold down Shift and right-click inside any folder, including the Desktop, and you'll see the new "Copy List to Clipboard" item.

You can also hold down the shift key and right-click on a folder, where you'll also see the "Copy List to Clipboard" menu item:

Once you use the menu item, you should now have a list of files on the clipboard:

You'll notice it's a simple file list, there's no file size or any other information displayed. You could modify the registry hack to eliminate the /b switch if you wanted to get the rest of the information.

How it Works

We're actually doing here is creating a menu item that opens a command prompt, runs the dir /b command (for a clean directory listing), and then pipes that into the clip.exe utility built into Windows Vista.

First we browse down to the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell

We created the copylist key, and then the command key underneath that. The default value for copylist is set to "Copy List to Clipboard", and then we set the default key for command to our command line: (Updated, Thanks Todd!)

cmd /c dir "%1â€³ /b /a:-d /o:n | clip

You could use the same thing from a command prompt, or in your own scriptsâ€¦ just replace %1 with the directory you are trying to get a listing of.

I just upgraded to Vista Enterprise SP1, and I found that my backup PST was corrupted. Outlook told me to run ScanPST.exe, but didn't bother telling me where it was. According to the KB article, it's located in the Common Files directory. However, with Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, I found it here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

Obviously this isn't an insurmountable obstacle, but hopefully this will help.

How to download files using torrent ?

It is very easy to download through torrents. First of all download and install a torrent client software. You need this software to open torrent files. uTorrent is the best torrent client software. UnCrippling Bluetooth in Vista RTM

Introduction

If you've found this page, that means that you're one of the many legitimate Vista RTM users who have a plethora of Bluetooth devices that you were hoping to join up to your new shiny Vista machine and enjoy because as with all Microsoft products, they're just supposed to work, right? Wrong.

The Microsoft Bluetooth stack has been stripped of all profiles except OBEX file transfers and Mouse and Keyboard HID profiles. No stereo audio, no hands-free, no pda syncing, nothing. Why? No idea, there is no official word on the issue though there has been speculation in the community that perhaps Microsoft is trying to hold tight to increasing stability by decreasing functionality. This is ok for most folks. Just not the rest of us who are constantly wireless and in need of information, syncing, audio, phone calls, what have you.

This guide is an in-depth tutorial on getting complete and enhanced Bluetooth functionality in all version of Windows Vista RTM both 32bit and 64bit editions.

First a little bit of legal.

We have broken this installation into a number of steps listed below.

Download installation packages

Determine which Bluetooth device you have

Preparing the new installation

Removing old drivers completely

Installing WIDCOMM drivers

Patching your WIDCOMM installation

Installing your device

Enjoying unrestricted Bluetooth functionality

UPDATE(06/21/07): It has been determined that through this method, A2DP(stereo bluetooth audio) does NOT function properly. A workaround/fix is currently being researched so sit tight.

Step 1 -=- Download Installation Packages

First thing to do is get all of the tools you're going to need to be able to do this. This includes the WIDCOMM drivers appropriate to your system, the patcher program, and optionally, you can download this guide in PDF format for offline viewing.

You may download the WIDCOMM 5.1.0.1100 drivers along with the patcher from Dev-Hack.Com's downloads section. The packages will be clearly marked to avoid any confusion.

NOTE: If you know of WIDCOMM already you may be asking, "Well why aren't we going to use the latest version of the driver?" That's a good question and with it comes a good answer. After version 5.1.0.1100 the driver stops supporting 3rd party chipsets, that means that you all with your CSR chipsets would be very frustrated after having completed this guide. In addition, the patcher utility isn't of the latest version however is much easier to use and has been extensively tested and confirmed to function properly with this version of WIDCOMM drivers.

Step 2 -=- Determining Which Bluetooth Device You Have

Once you have downloaded and extracted the drivers, it's time to minimize your folder and head into your device manager to determine exactly what hardware you have installed. Make sure you have your Bluetooth adapter inserted in your computer(working or not).

Right click "Computer" on your desktop, and then select Properties

On the top left click Device Manager.

Expand your Bluetooth tree to see your Bluetooth radio(if installed) or look at Other Devices to see if it appears there(if not installed).

Double click your Bluetooth radio device(The name may vary depending upon manufacturer and model). Then click the Details tab.

Click the drop down box and select Device ID

Now with that window open go back into the extracted drivers folder. We need to check and see if the installer already supports your device.

In the root folder go into the appropriate folder for your system. i.e. If you're in 32 bit Vista, enter Win32. For 64 bit, enter Win64.

Open up btwusb.inf in notepad (should already be the default viewer so you can just double click it.)

Now look at your hardware ID in the device manager it should be formatted like this:

USB\VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX where "XXXX" is a 4 digit hexadecimal number(There may be revision information after the basic Hardware ID's such as: USB\VID_413C&PID_8126&REV_0100).

Quickly copy or memorize the 4 digit number after VID.

In notepad hit Ctrl+F to open the find dialog. Enter your VID as VID_XXXX where the XXXX is your four digit number specific to your device. Hit Enter.

If your device is found, then look again and confirm that your VID and PID numbers match exactly then and only then may you skip to Step 4 -=- Removing Old Drivers Completely

If you did not find your VID and PID then please continue on to Step 3 -=- Preparing the New Installation.

Step 3 -=- Preparing the New Installation

Since your device wasn't specifically included in the installer script that doesn't necessarily mean that the drivers aren't compatible. There's a very good chance that they are and should work fine (since most Bluetooth devices are created alike and their functionality is determined by the profiles they support). In this step we need to modify the installer script to include your specific device. You should already have btwusb.inf opened up for your specific platform. Add the following lines

Under [ControlFlags] section add

ExcludeFromSelect=USB\VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX (change the XXXX with the numbers from your device)

This varies for different versions of windows.

32bit windows:

Under [WIDCOMM.NTx86.5.1] add

%****.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX ; My BT USB Dongle Where "****" is a string or single word that's all caps and would be the name of your hardware vendor. EXAMPLE: %DellFangorn.DeviceDesc%=BRSMARTUSB, USB\VID_413C&PID_8126

64bit Windows:

Under [WIDCOMM.NTamd64] add

Save and Close the file.

Step 4 -=- Removing Old Drivers Completely

What we're going to do here here is effectively remove the installer script files from Windows' view. So now when the device is found it won't be able to find a driver. And you should select "Don't ask Again" when prompted to search for new drivers for your device after you uninstall it.

Now, if you still have your device manager window open and you already have the Windows or manufacturer driver installed, please uninstall ANYTHING Bluetooth related. (HINT: If you remove the Bluetooth Radio device first, it will take everything else with it.) You can uninstall devices simply by Right clicking them and selecting Uninstall.

Step 5 -=- Disabling Microsoft Bluetooth Stack Completely

Now that the installation is prepared we have to make sure that Microsoft's automatic and crippled Bluetooth driver doesn't just jump in the way and automatically install itself when you're trying to install the new driver. We have to disable Microsoft's installer script for Bluetooth devices.

Navigate to C:\Windows\inf\

Rename bth.inf to bth.inf.old;

Rename bth.pnf to bth.pnf.old

Once everything is uninstalled, close all files and dialogs and restart your machine.

NOTE: This is important! If you are running Windows Vista x64, you absolutely HAVE to press F8 on boot. Right after your BIOS post, pound F8 until you're presented with a menu. You MUST select "Disable Driver Signing Enforcment" or you will not be able to install this driver. As of yet, there is no other way to disable this other than attaching a debugger to the kernel which isn't practical.

Step 6 -=- Installing WIDCOMM Drivers

And now is the time you've all been waiting for. Time to run the installer for the WIDCOMM Drivers.(Please see the bright red note above if you're running Windows Vista RTM x64). Make sure your Bluetooth Device is unplugged from your machine.

Browse to where you have the drivers unpacked.

Browse directly into your platform folder(i.e. Win32 or Win64)

Do not run Setup.exe

instead run Inst.exe.

Go through the installer, when it comes up and says that no Bluetooth device detected, click CANCEL to continue the installation without installing a device first. It will always say this even if your device is internal or still connected.

Windows will bitch at you for not installing signed drivers about 11 times so go ahead and make sure you're clicking away at "Install Anyway"

The WIDCOMM drivers will install the following virtual devices and profiles:

Bluetooth Communications ports(COM 4 and 5)

Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver

Bluetooth Virtual HID Mouse

Bluetooth Virtual HID Keyboard

Hands-Free Audio

Stereo Audio(also known in xp as High Quality Bluetooth Audio or A2DP)

Once Vista is done installing the various devices then click Finish in the installer to close it.

You'll now notice You'll have the Bluetooth icon down in the task bar which should be red and a My Bluetooth Places icon on your desktop. Do not click either of them yet. We're almost done.

Step 7 -=- Patching Your WIDCOMM Installation

Before we restart, you should make sure you have available the WIDCOMM patcher that you downloaded and optionally this guide in PDF form that you can download from Dev-Hack.Com.

The next portion is very simple.

Restart your machine in safe-mode by mashing F8 right after the bios post and selecting Safe Mode with Networking.

Once in safe mode, browse to where you have downloaded and extracted the patcher.

Run the patcher by double clicking the executable.

This is where it gets slightly tricky. In the drop down box, you have to find your Bluetooth device. If you added your device to the installer script for the drivers, then you should already be able to recognize it. Look for the beginning of the device description. Once you're sure you've found your device, select it and click save.

Restart your machine.(x64 users, remember you have to disable Driver Signing Enforcement at EVERY boot, sorry)

Step 8 -=- Installing Your Device

Once you're back into windows, do the following.

Plug your Bluetooth adapter in(if it is external)

If your adapter is internal, then open up the Device Manager and click Action>Scan for Hardware Changes to initiate the installation process.

When it asks you to search for drivers, select to Browse for the location yourself.

Browse to the following: C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\bin

Then click ok and the installer will find the drivers assuming you correctly edited the installer script.

Once the device is installed(if successful) You're ready to rock.

Step 9 -=- Enjoying Your Bluetooth Experience

Once everything is installed and patched you should be able to right click the Bluetooth icon down in the task bar, select Begin Using Bluetooth. With any luck, you'll start the Bluetooth Wizard and be able to choose which profiles your computer will provide to devices. If you get a license error, then something went wrong with the patching or you didn't choose the right device in the patcher. If you get a device not found, then I recommend completely uninstalling the device and starting from Step 6.

Should you need to Uninstall and return to your default driver(no idea why you'd want to.) then you need to open up Device Manager then, through the control panel, remove the WIDCOMM Drivers(Add/Remove Programs). The drivers will prompt you to remove your device. You can do that or just right click your Bluetooth radio in the Device Manager and click Uninstall, the driver uninstallation will resume automatically.

Use check boxes to select files

When you want to select multiple files in Windows Explorer, you can hold down the [Ctrl] key as you click on each file. If the files are in consecutive order, you can select the first file, hold down the [Shift] key and select the last file. However, when using either of these techniques, it's easy to slip up and have to start all over. In Windows Vista there's a way to put check boxes next to each file in Windows Explorer. As such, you can select files for regular file management operations just like you would select files in many backup programs.

To enable this feature, launch Windows Explorer, press the [Alt] key to toggle the Menu Bar on, pull down the Tools menu, and select Folder Options. When you see the Folder Options dialog box, select the View tab. Then, under the Advanced Settings scroll down to the bottom of the list and select the Use Check Boxes To Select Items check box. Click OK to complete the operation.

This tutorial is for those users who have free net connection at night (Mainly meant for bsnl users who have 500 plan which has free browsing from 2am – 8 am). U guys thought u need to wake up at 2am then put it for download and then go to sleep??? Well u have the pc to do these things for you… :D

Well the obvious way is to put on the pc on for the entire night and then schedule it to download. Then again y waste so much electricity???

Well follow the following steps to have a good night sleep and wake up in the morning to see ur pc downloaded couple of large movies for u to enjoy… :D and u wont have to waste money paying electricity bills 4 those extra hours prior to download by putting ur system on idly.

* First of all open the notepad, then type in the following

rasdial BSNL username password

Here type in ur bsnl username and password in the specified places.

Eg: if ur username is say pcmobile24x7 and ur password is revolution then type in

rasdial BSNL pcmobile24x7 revolution

* Then go to file >save as then save your file as "bsnl.bat" with quotes in the Filename area. Click save and save it somewhere.

* Now go to Control panel > Scheduled Tasks. Click Add Scheduled Tasks .this will open a scheduled task wizard window. Click Next to continue. This will open up a list of programs from which u can select. Click browse and locate the bsnl.bat file u saved. Click next and check mark the perform tasks daily button.

* Now set the time to say 2:10 am and click next to continue. It will take u to a window which asks for password. ENTER PASSWORD ONLY IF U HAVE SET A PASSWORD TO ACESS UR USER ACCOUNT ELSE LEAVE IT BLANK.

It might show an error after clicking finish but u can ignore it.

* Now go to control panel > Scheduled tasks then right click the schedule which u created and go to properties. In the task tab tick run only if logged in. In the settings tab tick the option which says wake the computer to run this task. Untick the other 2 options. Now click apply to apply the settings.

* Now once again schedule the task of running your torrent client software(Eg: bittorrent, utorrent , azerus etc) using schedule tasks using the same settings as above except ticking the option which says wake the computer to run this task.

Put this task to a time say 2.15am.

· Inside ur client software there must be scheduler. Schedule the downloads to end at say 7:45am.

· Now open a notepad file and type in

shutdown -f -s

now save the file as powerdown.bat . Schedule this file to go off at 7:46am using schedule tasks(using the same settings as above except ticking the option which says wake the computer to run this task). Now u r all set to go.

Remember u can rename the above file to anything. But dont give the name as shutdown.bat its a common mistake everyone makes. renaming it to shutdown.bat causes a loop to go around in cmd. So name it anything except shutdown.bat

* Go to start > turn off computer. Then hold the shift key and click on Hibernate to put the pc to hibernate position. Turn off monitor and speakers and go and have a nice sleep and get up in the morning to see ur downloads completed. :D

Remember to put PC in hibernate mode to make this work and remember to turn off ur speakers and monitor to reduce power consumption. On days which u don't have any downloads. Just turn off the pc and go.

Check the license status

As you know, activating your license in Windows Vista is a big deal. If you ever feel the need to check the status of license on your computer, you can of course go to the System screen by pressing [Windows]+[Break] and check out the Windows Activation section to see if it is activated properly. However, Microsoft included a little VBScript tool that will provide you a bit more information about your license.

To launch this little VBScript tool, press [Windows]+R to access the Run dialog box. Then, type slmgr.vbs –dli in the Open text box, and click OK. In a moment, you will see a Windows Script Host dialog box, like the one shown in Figure D. As you can see, in addition to informing you that your copy of Windows Vista is indeed licensed, it also gives you your edition, tells how you acquired it (Retail or OEM) and even shows you a partial product key. While you can't tell in this screen shot, it's only the last five characters in your product key.

Well the obvious way is to put on the pc on for the entire night and then schedule it to download. Then again y waste so much electricity???

Well follow the following steps to have a good night sleep and wake up in the morning to see ur pc downloaded couple of large movies for u to enjoy… and u wont have to waste money paying electricity bills 4 those extra hours prior to download by putting ur system on idly.

* First of all open the notepad, then type in the following

rasdial BSNL username password

Here type in ur bsnl username and password in the specified places.

Eg: if ur username is say pcmobile24x7 and ur password is revolution then type in

rasdial BSNL pcmobile24x7 revolution

* Then go to file >save as then save your file as "bsnl.bat" with quotes in the Filename area. Click save and save it somewhere.

It might show an error after clicking finish but u can ignore it.

A few tweaks

[1.1.1] If you want to enable the International menu, install Enable International menu which is found in the Unlocking Tools category. This will let you choose keyboards, and set your phone to use your prefered regional settings, like date and phone number formatting. Be alerted though - it looks like Apple haven't finished this feature completely yet (which is probably why it's deactivated) so there may be some issues. In my case Fahrenheit and Celsius is mixed up in the Weather application for instance!

[1.1.1] By default, the EDGE settings found in Settings → General → Network → EDGE are not saved when phone is restarted. To fix this, install EDGE Settings fix which is found in the Unlocking Tools category..

If YouTube does not work ("You must first connect to iTunes..."), try to install YouTube activation which is found in the Unlocking Tools category. Also make sure that the phone has correct date.

If you for some reason need to deliver your phone to Apple (service etc.), i recommend that you revert the unlock first so that they (hopefully) can't see it's been unlocked. Install OneSIM which is found in the Unlocking Tools category, and tap on the new icon it creates to run it. After you are done, do a restore in iTunes.

1. Speed Up Windows Vista Start Menu Search

As you execute a search you will be using the search box located in the start panel. Then Vista will start searching the file index without any prompting. Keep in mind that the file index will be very big due to the fact that it has all files included on your hard drive. If you are looking to speed up your searching methods then you can try this. Go to your Start Menu and narrow down the scope of the search. In other words try to narrow down what you are looking for. Instead of a general term use something more specific. There are two ways in which you can do this.

The first way is called the Registry hack and for that this is what you have to do.

Step one: Open up the registry editor using the word regedit.

Step Two: Guide to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer and then choose the Advanced key.

Step Three: Locate and then right click on the Start_Search Files and then select the Modify key.

Step Four: You now have to change the Value to Zero.

Step Five: Then restart your Explorer.exe or you can simply just reboot the computer.

If this method does not work for you then you can try this:

Step One: Using your mouse right click on the Start button and then choose the Properties key.

Step Two: then click on the button that says Customize.

Step Three: Then see all of the checked items, uncheck the Search Communications.

Step Four: Then reset the search files to the setting Donâ€™t Search for files.

The first way is to Disable the Transparent Glass Effect:

Step Two: Choose the Windows Color and Appearance of your choice.

Step Three: Make sure you remove the check from the enable Transparency key.

The second way to speed up the Aero is to remove the Windows Minimum and Maximize the Animation key. You can do this by:

What is the Windows Powered Smart Display ?

What this is, is part of the Windows XP Professional Desktop. It is used in conjunction with the Remote Desktop Connection which is used through a wireless LAN link. This link is then used to get into your XP desktop from anywhere in the wireless range. So in other words, it is a remote wireless connection that your computer can use as along as the computer sits in the range of the wireless access.

Here are some other features that the Smart Display has:

The Smart Display has some great features, there is an on the screen keyboard which actually uses handwriting recognition software. It will allow you to use a USB mouse and keyboard if you are not used to the onscreen device yet . It can be used with a docking station and a mouse and keyboard. It is like using a small desktop computer from anywhere in the house or office. You have to keep in mind that the Smart Display itself does not have any file storage at all but the information that you use on the Smart Display will actually be stored on your desktop.

5. User Access Control

The User Access Control, this does not have to be used and can be turned off by simply clicking the Start button and then click the new Tools Menu and then scroll down and then when you see the access control key click it off. Then reboot your system.

6. Run as Administrator

You have to check because there is some software that you will not be able to install, even though you are logged in as an Admin. Simply right click in the mouse in the setup file and simply choose the Run as Administrator.

7. Added Wi-Fi Security

Added Wi-Fi Security, When you are looking for more security, go into the Network and Sharing menu and then click on Customize and choose the Public key . This will tighten up your Wi-Fi security when you are on public Wi-Fi.

8. Add Copy as Path

Simply hitting the shift key and then right click on a folder or you can choose any icon adds Copy as path and Open as command window here, you can edit them to the Windows Defender. Open up the Windows Defender and then click on the Tools key and then click on the Software Explorer and then take off the programs that you donâ€™t want to run.

9. Keyboard short cut secret

Using a left to right format give the icons on your Quick Launch bar a number, this way you can launch the icons in order of preference.

10. Free Up More Space on your computer

In order to do this you can use the Windows Disk Cleanup . This will get rid of files that you donâ€™t use, it will also get rid of memory and other operating system that contain files of unwanted material. By getting rid of the junk you can free up a lot of space for the important things you need.

Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Berlin. In order to increase sales, she decides to allow her loyal customers - most of whom are unemployed alcoholics - to drink now but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans).

Word gets around and as a result increasing numbers of customers flood into Heidi's bar.

Taking advantage of her customers' freedom from immediate payment constraints, Heidi increases her prices for wine and beer, the most-consumed beverages. Her sales volume increases massively.

A young and dynamic customer service consultant at the local bank recognizes these customer debts as valuable future assets and increases Heidi's borrowing limit.

He sees no reason for undue concern since he has the debts of the alcoholics as collateral.

At the bank's corporate headquarters, expert bankers transform these customer assets into DRINKBONDS, ALKBONDS and PUKEBONDS. These securities are then traded on markets worldwide. No one really understands what these abbreviations mean and how the securities are guaranteed.

Nevertheless, as their prices continuously climb, the securities become top-selling items.

One day, although the prices are still climbing, a risk manager (subsequently of course fired due his negativity) of the bank decides that slowly the time has come to demand payment of the debts incurred by the drinkers at Heidi's bar.

However they cannot pay back the debts.

Heidi cannot fulfil her loan obligations and claims bankruptcy.

DRINKBOND and ALKBOND drop in price by 95 %. PUKEBOND performs better, stabilizing in price after dropping by 80 %.

The suppliers of Heidi's bar, having granted her generous payment due dates and having invested in the securities are faced with a new situation.

Her wine supplier claims bankruptcy, her beer supplier is taken over by a competitor.

The bank is saved by the Government following dramatic round-the-clock consultations by leaders from the governing political parties.

The funds required for this purpose are obtained by a tax levied against the non-drinkers.

Check the license status
As you know, activating your license in Windows Vista is a big deal. If you ever feel the need to check the status of license on your computer, you can of course go to the System screen by pressing [Windows]+[Break] and check out the Windows Activation section to see if it is activated properly. However, Microsoft included a little VBScript tool that will provide you a bit more information about your license.

To launch this little VBScript tool, press [Windows]+R to access the Run dialog box. Then, type slmgr.vbs –dli in the Open text box, and click OK. In a moment, you will see a Windows Script Host dialog box, like the one shown in Figure D. As you can see, in addition to informing you that your copy of Windows Vista is indeed licensed, it also gives you your edition, tells how you acquired it (Retail or OEM) and even shows you a partial product key. While you can't tell in this screen shot, it’s only the last five characters in your product key.
